The Nest — A Cozy Story About Harmony and Comfort
INTERIOR DESIGN
Echipa Davidsign:
We present to you a new project that we are very excited about! The small apartment, located in the very center of Oradea's Union Square, measures just over 40 square meters, including the mezzanine. The most logical destination for such a property was to be furnished for short-term rental. The apartment has not been decorated in a particular style, but rather the ambiance has been built organically, starting with the space available and spiced up with the owner's specific details and preferences. The general appearance achieved is bohemian with a slightly playful atmosphere, but at the same time warm and welcoming.
Initially, the space was divided in a haphazard way. Although the rooms had high ceilings, the entrance area was fragmented. Therefore, the original height was restored to create a more welcoming entrance space. As there was the possibility to restore the generous height of the original space, we decided to remove all the walls and ceilings from the first room and merge the entrance area with the kitchen and dining area, thereby creating a unique spatiality. Although the main room was vertically divided by a mezzanine with a wooden staircase , this entire structure was dull and was completely rethought and transformed into a main aesthetic element.
After understanding our proposal for dividing the space, the owner decided to keep the apartment for personal use. Thus, from a small kitchenette with the bare necessities, we ended up integrating a kitchen furniture set that was large enough for a full-sized house. Since we did not have a generous amount of space available, we distributed the storage spaces vertically. The design concept allows for a flexible color palette that can be enriched without limits over time. Although the entrance area is dominated by the green of the kitchen and mustard yellow accents, the environmental configuration can easily adopt decorative elements of the most varied colors. The principle remains valid in all areas of the small apartment.
We are pleased that the owner was open to our proposal to keep elements of the building's original structure in the foreground. The old brickwork and recovered carpentry details add a sense of authenticity to the entire ensemble.
